Sometimes at Christmas I feel lost. Somewhere between parties and presents, Christmas cards and neighbor gifts, Santa Claus and all of those magic reindeer, I get swallowed up in a lot of things that don't matter.
This year I have taken more time to reflect.
I have yet to do neighbor gifts.
I didn't send out any Christmas cards.
Family parties were focused more on relationships than gifts.
And I have read the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John- the gospels that chronicle the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. My focus has been so much better this year because I have been thinking about the one thing that makes a difference to everyone- that many many years ago there was a sweet baby boy born in the most humble of circumstances.
I can't help but think that his mother, Mary, thought he was sure to be the most beautiful baby in the world- just as I did my own children. I wonder if she really understood that as surely as she delivered him, that he would deliver her, and us, right back.
He led a perfect life so that he could show us the way to return to our Father in Heaven. I am so, so grateful. He is the greatest gift that we could ever receive. Merry Christmas.

Wonderful reminder Amy. I for one hate the glamour of Christmas and my family doesn't even do gifts for each other anymore. Everything we buy goes to families in need and it is so much more fun that way. :)
I'm glad you posted this! The other day I was riding in the car and heard my favorite Christmas song, and maybe favorite song ever which is Oh Holy Night sung by Josh Groban. It's so full of imagery and calmness about something so amazing.
Merry Christmas to you too!
I try not to stress about the little things this time of year and this year I have felt the most relaxed ever. I think that not traveling (my family is coming to us this year) is helping out a lot.
Enjoy the holidays!
Great post, Amylee. I love the slideshow and your testimony. Truly, Christ is the best part of Christmas... And everyday. We are so blessed. :)
What a wonderful time of year this is to reflect! I think you are being a Mary, not a Martha, and choosing the better part. Christmas is not about neighbor gifts or cards.
Love, Love, LOVE, LOVE this. Thank you for the reminder of what Christmas is truly about!
Merry Christmas!
We are on the same page! This is so similar to what I sent out in our family email this week.
Jesus is such a beautiful being and I always strive to take his example to heart and share love :D Merry Christmas girl xoxo
This was so wonderful, thank you for sharing. You are such an inspiration to me - not only with your amazing running legs, but with your beautiful heart.
