Confidence GIVEAWAY

When I ran my first marathon last September, my friend Nicki openly mocked me for putting on mascara before I ran 26.2 miles. I mean, after all, don't I just sweat it all off by the end of that journey anyway?

Yes. I absolutely do.

 So why do it?

CONFIDENCE.

Running is a funny thing. For me, I swear it is 10% physical and 90% mental- I've even been known to mentally give myself injuries because of nerves (or at least make them worse than they are). It's pretty pathetic, but it's also the truth.

When I feel better about myself, I walk taller, I smile bigger, and I run faster.

Months ago Ali did a giveaway and I was instantly pumped about it- the handful bra! I've mentioned before that I've gone running without my bran and only noticed because I didn't have a place to clip on my iPod. Heck! Boys in my neighborhood used to repeat this rhyme to me:

Roses are red,
Violets are black,
Why is your chest
As flat as your back?

Not much has changed since high school- in the "busty" way, anyway. 2 kids later and I feel like I could qualify for reconstructive surgery.

I digress...

Why, hello there terrible form!
HANDFUL. I bought a bra as soon as I found out I didn't win Ali's giveaway, and I have done everything I can to wear it as much as possible.  It's comfortable, cute, and I love that I can wear it and not feel like a ten year old boy!  This bra is also a mastectomy bra, which I think is so important.  All women deserve to feel confident in themselves- no matter what.

I've been wearing my bra since January and I have never had a problem with it.  It fits so well, I've never had problems with chafing (which has been a big problem for me in the past!), and I would feel comfortable wearing it all the time- not just for working out.  I can honestly say that I will never buy a different brand of sports bra.

It is by far the best sports bra I have ever owned, and I am stoked to be able to give one of these awesome bras away to one of you!

Here are a few ways to enter (each entry should be in a separate comment):

1- You gotta give me a confession- this is MANDATORY ;)
2- Be a follower of my blog.
3- Like Handful on Facebook.
4-  Follow them on Twitter.

GIVEAWAY ENDS ON THURSDAY AT 3:30 PM, MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME.

If you can't wait- you can buy one of their pink, nude, or cocoa colored bras at 25% off!  They are making room for new colors this summer, so take advantage while you can.

Their website says their bras are for the smaller chested fitness enthusiast. I'm a D cup, so would it not work well for me? I'm desperate to find a good workout bra.

I'm I that Nicki who openly mocked you? I only vaguely remember it, but it totally sounds like something I'd do.

Oh Ames. This is my chance to pick up my pace! I need a handful bra. It's my answer. I confess that I've totally gone.. You ready, 4-wheeling without a bra and didn't bother me much. Yikes. I think I qualify as well.

Confession: I have reinvented my relationship with exercise, fitness and, primarily running. After my divorce I fell (face first) into a vicious cycle of disordered eating and compulsive exercise. The first few marathons I trained for I did in a very unhealthy way. Running was a punishment for eating. . .which was all an odd psychological ploy to feel in control of my life. I staged my own intervention almost two years ago now. I got help and, over time, was able to readopt my former approach to running (having run competitively since I was 8!). It was not easy. But, I am so grateful I had the courage to press pause, rewind and start over - in a sense. I consider myself 1.5 years recovered and 100,000,000% healthier and happier (and 1000% remarried! I have the most wonderful and supportive man in the history of the planet, I am VERY VERY lucky!)! It is not uncommon for me, on my long runs, to tear up thinking about how FREAKING happy I am, how much I love my sport & how full it makes my life.

Alas, I still have no boobs and - as per my above confession (sorry if it was too heavy!) - I could definitely love added confidence and a dash of femininity out on my long runs. But, I'm okay with just buying one (I have definitely considered it).

Confession: Sometimes when I am proud of myself for not doing something, I reward myself be doing it. (Example: I was really proud of myself for not buying a super cute dress that I wanted. So proud, I decided I deserved a reward, so I drove back to the mall and bought it.) I can rationalize anything!

I'm with Amber up there, I'm desperate for a good workout bra, hoping this bra would work for bustier people too :)

I have been quite guilty of putting make up on before a race as well. I know it's going to sweat off but I like a little color on my face - especially for those super early races and my face is slow pale and puffy that early. Ugh. Photo ops people! :)
