Here Lies Amylee Nicoll.

Dedicated wife and loving mother.  Sister, daughter and friend.  She found a new passion in running which she pursued up until her final moments- when 5AM speed work in 20 degree weather killed her off.

Are any of you still doing speed work outside right now?  Any tips on running in the cold and the dark trying to get this done and NOT DIE?

I've been doing my speedwork outside. I like to do it on a track so I can have lots of layers nearby so I can pile on and shed as I warm up and cool down. I also run down to the track with lights and reflectors on, but when I get to the track (and run around it once to make sure it's clear) I embrace the dark and run with nothing. It's a strange feeling, but I like it.

Your family is so flipping cute and this always sounded like an obituary. No beuno my dear. No one does speedwork in the Winter. Just run for fun and work on your base and don't stress about getting faster during the freezing winter months k? I just gave you the "free" pass. :)

I gave up and took my speedwork inside. It was 20 degrees, snowing, and windy when I got up this morning. Considering I barely even wanted to open the door to let the pup outside, I am super impressed that you were running.

I have no tips except to put on everything you own. But that's not practical for running... it's just my default behavior for winter in Colorado. But I have to agree with everyone and say that your family is ADORABLE.
