Confession: Serious Style

The people that are really close to me know this about me, but it's something I don't talk much about to people outside my little sphere because I don't want to sound ungrateful or anything like that.

Here's the deal:  I really, really want to win Rachelle's Good2Go Bar giveaway.  Over compression sleeves and running jewelry, Running Diva shirts and marathon entries, I want to win these bars.

Why?

I want to gain weight.

I know I'm an anomaly. Most blogs (and people) are focused on fitness and maintaining or losing weight, but this doesn't apply to me.  My entire life I have been a stick figure.  I can eat mountains of food and it doesn't go to my thighs, my love handles, or (Heaven forbid!) my breasts.  In Junior High there was a rumor going around that I was anorexic.  In High School I was called "Skeletor" by the skater guys that hung out at the end of the hall by the cafeteria.  When I was pregnant I was often told I looked so much better with meat on my bones.

I know some of you are thinking- 'Why are you complaining?  I would give up Christmas for the rest of my life for thighs that don't touch.'

We all have things we would like to change about ourselves.  It's not very fun to be sitting in a theater watching a sick and anorexic looking Bella from Breaking Dawn on screen, feeling horrified at how she looks, and then have someone say that she reminds them of you.

Please don't take this post the wrong way.

I'm not trying to be whiny or ungrateful here.  I am very blessed to have this body.  It is healthy.  It is strong.  And I do feel blessed to be thin rather than overweight- the health risks are far fewer.  Overall I am really happy with how I look and this isn't a focus of my life at all.

I have had a goal to gain some weight for several years.  I weigh more right now than I have for a long time, but it's because I am more muscle than anything else.  This year I've managed to gain a couple of pounds and I'm proud of this because I'm eating healthier now than I ever have in the past.

Back to the whole point of this post- Good2Go Bars.  Calorie packed, protein packed, nutritious.  These seem like an answer to my problem! It's hard to find snacks that are easy and filled with everything you need- and TASTE GOOD.  I just wish I could try one before I commit 30 bucks (which in a family of 4 living on nothing a student income is A LOT) to buying an entire package.

I'm not looking for sympathy or validation, but I am looking for help.  PLEASE give me suggestions on healthy, calorie packed, tasty snacks!

I had to gain a ridiculous amount of weight when I was pregnant, and I drank a lot of Ensures. Those puppies will pack on the pounds. That, coupled with peanut butter, guacamole, more peanut butter, nuts, and cheese. Add a PB & J on whole wheat a day and you could be gaining a pound a week (as long as you add it on top of what you're already eating.) Happy eating! :)

Have you tried Larabars yet?? They are pretty high calorie as well but are all natural ingredients - fruits and nuts mostly. They are so delicious!!

I frequently remind people that there is a difference between being skinny an being healthy. I have to work hard to maintain a healthy weight too, but that does not give me an excuse to eat big macs every meal.

I eat a lot of alvacados, potatoes and winter squashes. Those help.

Amy I love that you are honest about this. When can you meet up with me? I will bring you 5-6 Good2Go Bars to try. They seriously are perfect and I think would really help you. Also like I said Casey is going to be giving me a discount code after the giveaway.

Also I do think that strength training really helps. I have gained a few lbs since SGM but my body fat has decreased because I have been lifting more. You don't have to lift a lot just sumple things like lunges, squats, push-ups, situps, ect. I will gone to Vegas this weekend but back Tues so let me know when you can meet up. :)

I HATE that you should even have to feel like this. and by this I mean guilty for sharing your feelings about your weight. I am not nearly as tiny as you and people are still like that towards me. I dislike it. I dislike that people don't understand that just b/c society has made us brainwashed into thinking only skinny bodies are desirable and then when your genes allow you to remain thin and you wnt to talk about gaining weight people get down on you.

I think the next time someone of a different body type says something like "I'd give anything for your body" you should say "well I feel the same way" ;) or you could always tell them to start running ;)

I think you look great by the way. So if you are healthy and feel good there is no need to gain weight :D

Aww amylee... I have no healthy suggestions to gain weight. Proud of your honesty though! Here's to a few more lbs!

I vote to abandon the "healthy" and go right for the Hostess. The big raspberry filled powdered donuts. Mmmmm. If it has the word "raspberry" on the box you can call them healthy.
